There’s so much to say about this topic. A few years ago I started painting en plein aire which means creating (and sometimes finishing) original artwork outside. It’s a glorious part of my art practice that I treasure. That and sketch booking! I just showed one of my favorite sketchbooks to a dear friend today and shared how my brave leap to focus on a subject (portraits at that time) that scared me. They winded up becoming a big part of my inspiration for an artist exhibition i put on in 2023- and portraits peeked through in my work again...

Welcome to my 2024 year in review! Each year, I love sitting down and reflecting on what I accomplished, what my favorite pieces were, and what I learned, where my growth occurred both personally and professionally and take those lessons with me into my next year to keep growing and evolving! It’s October, and I’m on the doorstep of my last baby’s first birthday. For some reason, it has brought me to a place of great reflection lately. I feel the need to hibernate, to write, to continue to create, and to lean in to what this season of life has to pour out for me.
